Genesis 2:

God creates man and woman, and gives them the one rule to not eat of the Tree of Good and Evil

Psalm 2:

Serve the Lord with reverent fear.  Submit to God's Son.


Proverbs 2:

God grants wisdom, from Him come knowledge and understanding.


I find the phrasing in Proverbs chapter 2 to be very interesting, from Him comes knowledge and understanding.

It appears that we must learn first, and then understand second.  Only after we have gained knowledge, can we then understand things.  I think too many times in this life, we seek to understand things,  without actually taking the time to learn things.

There are many examples of this.  The main example that comes to mind is the debate on gun control.  Many people think they understand what an "evil" gun is, without ever gaining the knowledge of what terms such as semi-automatic, AR-15, etc means.

When Nightmares Come (Osprey Bluebook series)

Last week I picked up a copy of When Nightmares Come by Patrick Todoroff.  It is a game of modern supernatural investigation.   Think Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, Scooby Doo.  The concept seems fun, and the rules seem pretty simple.    There are three character types, a warrior, a wizard, and a tinker/mechanic.  It uses a dice pool mechanic consisting on d6, d8 and d10.  Everything works off a success of 4+, and you can use the dice as you see fit to make sure your actions succeed.  There were a few errors here and there,  my favorite being 288mm scale.  I am of course now tempted to print a figure at that scale.  Maybe I can use some busts.  Anyways, this is a common complaint about the Blue Book series, the minor typos here and there.  They don't bother me too much.   I think the rules look fun, I think the game will play well.  I am excited to print and paint some new models as always.  I am a...

Mythic Earth (formerly Mythic Americas)

Crossposted on Splendor of Fire  I was watching the Joy of Wargaming YouTube channel as I am wont to do. It is a great channel, and Mr. Wargaming is a really swell guy. For some reason he was in New Jersey, and found Mythicos Studios. Which is a wargaming store and studio. They produce the game Mythic Earth (formerly known as Mythic Americas, based on the Warlords of Erewhon ruleset from Warlord Games). I just realized how crazy this whole thing sounds. There were/are a lot of moving parts going on here. I saw the game probably during the pandemic, and wanted to get into it, but life got in the way. I am coming to the realization that I need to actually start playing games with my toys, and stop printing and painting so much. Anyways, as always I digress from the point of this article.
