Leviticus 25 Be assured I will send my blessing on you.   "You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working the land for Me" God Psalm 1 Delight in the law of the Lord Proverbs 1 Simpletons turn away from the Lord. Leviticus spoke to me to today.  One of the things we've been talking about in Sunday School, is how do we claim the victory we know we have.  How do we keep our minds on the eternal in a temporal world?   I don't have a good answer to that.  I don't have any answer to that.  I don't know how to do that. I think God is teaching me.  One thing I need to remember is, this world is only temporary, and I'm only temporary.  I'm a tenant farmer in this world, and at any time I can be ejected into the the permanent world.   The choice is ours where we spend that permanent existence.   I know for me, I'm going to spend that time in Heaven with my saviour Jesus.

When Nightmares Come (Osprey Bluebook series)

Last week I picked up a copy of When Nightmares Come by Patrick Todoroff.  It is a game of modern supernatural investigation.   Think Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, Scooby Doo.  The concept seems fun, and the rules seem pretty simple.    There are three character types, a warrior, a wizard, and a tinker/mechanic.  It uses a dice pool mechanic consisting on d6, d8 and d10.  Everything works off a success of 4+, and you can use the dice as you see fit to make sure your actions succeed.  There were a few errors here and there,  my favorite being 288mm scale.  I am of course now tempted to print a figure at that scale.  Maybe I can use some busts.  Anyways, this is a common complaint about the Blue Book series, the minor typos here and there.  They don't bother me too much.   I think the rules look fun, I think the game will play well.  I am excited to print and paint some new models as always.  I am a...

2024-04-08 Daily Bible Reading

Exodus 18 Moses listened to advice from his elder and surrounded himself with Godly people. Psalm 95 Don't harden your heart.  Do as the Lord tells you. Proverbs 9 Knowledge of God results in good judgement. Good judgement results in wisdom. Wisdom results in multiplication of your days Ephesians 1 God will bring all things together under Christ's authority. I won't lie, I feel like crap today.  I was sick all day yesterday, I didn't sleep well last night. Went to sleep with a headache and woke up with a headache.  My stomach still feels terrible.  I'm not complaining, but I am explaining why it feels like today I just went through the motions of reading my Bible.    But now that I am putting all my thoughts down here, I see a theme in todays reading. I probably say it too much, but I'll say it again.  I am always amazed by how God puts various verses together to teach us a lesson, or how they all fit.   Moses surrounded himself with Go...

America, WW2, and the First Peace time Draft

The Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 passed the Senate on August 28, 1940. This was the first peace-time draft in the history of the United States. This begs the question, Why? We all know about WW2, but now I'm starting to think the timelines are kept intentionally vague. Hitler's campaign's didn't start until May 10, 1940. And France didn't surrender until June 25 of 1940. So why did Roosevelt and the Congress think we needed a peace-time draft? It appears that the American people did not want to intervene in another war in Europe. It took two months from France surrendering for the US Congress to start drafting Americans in peacetime? This all seems very suspect to me.  Matthew 6: Why do you so little faith?  Seek the Kingdom of God, and live righteously. Psalm 56: Got has rescued me from death, He has kept my feet from falling. Proverbs 27: Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. Jesus is speaking in Matthew Chapter 6 from the now famous Sermon on the Mount.  There is a lot to learn from Jesus from this sermon.  Today's lesson was emphasized by Psalms 56.  Jesus tells us how beautiful the flowers are, how well taken care of are the birds.  He then goes on to tell us how much more precious are we to God, than the flowers and the animals?  The flowers will be thrown into the fire tomorrow, but we will last forever.  So why do we not trust Him?  Why do we not have faith?   I can't answer that question.  I looked back over insights from years ago, when I read Matthew in the past, and I recorded some of my worries from that time?  You know what?  They are...

02/16/2024 Daily Bible Reading

Genesis 47: Joseph is able to acquire all the wealth in Egypt and Canaan by listening to God, and saving food during the 7 strong years that God told him about. Psalms 47: Sing Praises to God.  For God is King of all the Earth. Proverbs 16: Kind words are like honey - sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Wow, the scriptures on wording just keep hitting me this year.  I have read Proverbs probably like 50+ times.  I haven't really stopped to take count.  I read Proverbs 12 times a year, and I have been reading pretty faithfully for the last 4 plus years.  I don't say this to brag, but only to put in context.  I don't think I have ever noticed this verse before.   And I love how God ties it all together with Psalms 47, Kind words, like Praising God, are like honey.  Sweet for the soul, and healthy for the body.  I often laugh at sitcoms when the people sing out loud, and break into sing-song,  I'm like nobody does that in...

White Dwarf #50

How do you review a 40 year old magazine?  The same way you review a brand new one.  You think about the articles, and what they say. White Dwarf #50 has some interesting ideas.   The first article is about using Red Tap in a game of Traveller.  How you might ask?  Make up a bunch of forms, make the players's fill them out, then fill them out again and again.  Lock them up if they fill them out wrong.  Lock them up if they fill them out right.  Occasionally if the PC's annoy you as the GM, throw some red tape in their way, and make them follow the path you want, or not.  They are PC's by the way. The next article is a little about playing Clerics in D&D.  This one was interesting.  The early years of D&D and AD&D were all about trying to figure out what these games are/were.  This one still holds useful information today.  Too often clerics are seen as middling fighters, who exist to heal people when thing...
